Microsoft hosted the first Washington State Disability Inclusion Conference this past Monday. The event was sponsored by SHRM Washington State Council, Olympia and South Puget Sound Chapters, the Department of Social & Health Services – Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DSHS-DVR), the Council of State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation (CSAVR), Microsoft, the ACCESS Foundation and Skills Inc. Over 400 people came together to focus on the importance of recruiting and hiring persons with disabilities. Not only is it the right thing to do but it’s the smart thing to do. Business gains great employees whereas persons with disabilities get great opportunities.
The goal of the conference was to “provide attendees with the latest information on disability related topics that support the hiring, promotion, retention and inclusion of employees with disabilities in the workplace”. It included an all-star cast of experts representing the public, private, and government sectors. You will be able to read more about the Disability Inclusion Conference in our upcoming fall newsletter.
Thanks to everyone that had a hand in putting this amazing event together!
