Congratulations to the Skills Inc. Aerospace Internship Program graduating class of 2016! Since 2001, this program has served over 400 students with disabilities. Preparing them for the workforce and beyond through experiential learning, one-on-one training, mentoring, valuable life skills, and personalized instruction in aerospace manufacturing and finishing, all while earning credit toward their high school diplomas.
This year we served more students than any previous, with thirty-one high school students from four school districts. The graduation ceremony was held at Emerald Downs on Friday, June 3rd and was well attended by parents, school administrators, community partners and mentors. Guest speakers included Michael McGuire from The Boeing Company and Julie Moore from Kent School District. All qualifying seniors will be graduating from high school and fourteen will be returning to Skills Inc. for a summer internship.
