Congratulations to our 2015 Aerospace Internship Program graduates! Throughout the past school year, Skills Inc. served 34 students from Federal Way, Kent, Enumclaw and Tahoma School Districts, with 20 graduating from the program this month. Of our seniors, 100% graduated from high school and 12 have been hired on at Skills Inc. for summer employment.
During the AIP, students receive one-on-one training, mentoring, personalized instruction and gain valuable work ethics – like being on time, working with peers, following directions, and being a reliable team member. Interns are given the chance to explore their own interests and discover their abilities by working in multiple departments, all while in a supportive environment. After the school year is over, students who applied themselves and did well in the program are offered the chance to work and continue their vocational training.
The impact that this program has on students is truly inspiring. Their progress and transformations are undeniable. Our interns finish the year with a new confidence, important work skills and a more positive outlook for their future.
The AIP could not happen without the support and cooperation of all of the school administrators, donors, mentors, trainers and supervisors that help us provide these opportunities for local area youth. Thank you for being these students’ champions!
