Thank You AIP Supporters

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

A big thanks to everyone that came out and supported our Sixth Annual Golf Tournament.  We had a record number of golfers and over 175 people joined us for our awards luncheon.  All proceeds directly benefit our Aerospace Internship Program (AIP).  Each year this program helps dozens of students with disabilities achieve academic success.

Dennis Bounds Promotes Annual Event

Monday, March 7th, 2011

How you can go “Bowling with Dennis Bounds” and others from KING 5 TV!
KING 5 Community article by Dennis Bounds

Coming Sunday, March 13, is the 4th annual Bowling with Bounds at Kenmore Lanes.

We take over the alley and bowl the day away for a good cause.

The beneficiary of this wonderful event is Skills, Inc. (www.skillsinc.com), an organization that creates jobs that change lives.

Their mission statement on their website reads: “ Through responsible management and solid corporate partnerships, we create and maintain a stable, rewarding place of work, where persons with disabilities contribute their skills.
And their vision statement: “ To seek innovative enterprising opportunities that employs and supports persons with disabilities.”

Joining me again this year will be my colleagues from KING5, Allen Schauffler, Rich Marriott, and Tracy Taylor, along with KJR’s Ian Furness.
Four hours of bowling, with a silent auction table, giveaways and a raffle.
Noon  to 4pm.

My oldest son is developmentally disabled, and I know the value of him having a good job.  So help us help those who have disabilities.

Go to the Skills, Inc. website for more information about their programs, and register for Bowling with Bounds.

It is the only charitable event that bears my name.

DeafNation Expo

Friday, October 29th, 2010

On October 16th, 2010, the Seattle Convention Center’s Exhibition Hall was taken over by more than 2,800 people for the annual DeafNation Expo, a “touring trade show for, by, and about deaf people”.  DeafNation has been bringing the Deaf Community together since 2003 with 10-15 expos a year, nationwide.  The expo provides exhibitions and entertainment but more importantly it offers an opportunity for individuals to make connections, to catch up with old friends and new.

Many Skills Inc. employees were on hand to participate and to inform the audience about our organization.  We are proud to be a vital work option for the Deaf Community.
